Has Christianity abandoned the Mosaic Law ? Part II

Continuing with Pete's comments he references verses that Christianity
has apparently abrogated

Exodus 21:16
And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand,
he shall surely be put to death. (King James Version)

Exodus 20:3
Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (King James Version)

Exodus 20:4
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any
thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in
the water under the earth. (King James Version)

I respond with a caveat. Yes (Exodus 20:3~4) and No (Exodus 21:16) to
these commands. Christians aren't Jews for one. Secondly, Pete is confusing
Mosaic Law with Jewish Tribal Law. Why did he intersperse the 10
Commandments with Talmudic Law ? As a Christian, i would nuance, the
Mosaic law into two parts, God's commands, and Jewish Tribal Law.

This was really played out, by the Apostles, between Peter and Paul.
Rightly, pointed out by Marina Lee. She however understands it as a Christian
split between separate gospels between Peter and Paul. A post-modern
interpretation that the Deity of Christ was really the Design of Paul.

Another myth fishing expedition. I suggest they start with discrediting Matthew
because its quite clear in the Great Commission he quotes Yeshua as saying

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. ~ Matthew 28:19

Very clearly, explicitly implying, that converted Christians are to be brought
into the faith in the name of the FATHER, SON, and HOLY SPIRIT i.e.
coequals

Speaking as someone who actually had a Jewish relative, been to Israel, and has.
actually attended Synagogue Services. To actually, follow Mosaic Law in its
completeness. One would have to convert to Judaism.

Per Peter and Paul's disagreement (at Antioch). Peter (Cephas) was living a
dualistic life. Living like a gentile and forcing gentile believers to observe
ritualistic law. Ritualistic law includes jewish traditions.

11 But when Cephas (Peter) came to Antioch, I protested and opposed him

to his face [concerning his conduct there], for he was blameable and stood
condemned.

12 For up to the time that certain persons came from James, he ate his

meals with the Gentile [converts]; but when the men [from Jerusalem]
arrived, he withdrew and held himself aloof from the Gentiles and [ate]
separately for fear of those of  the circumcision [party].

13 And the rest of the Jews along with him also concealed their true

convictions and acted insincerely, with the result that even Barnabas was
carried away by their hypocrisy (their example of insincerity and pretense).

14 But as soon as I saw that they were not straightforward and were not

living up to the truth of the Gospel, I said to Cephas (Peter) before
everybody present, If you, though born a Jew, can live [as you have been
living] like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how do you dare now to urge
and practically force the Gentiles to [comply with the ritual of Judaism and]
live like Jews?

~ Galatians 2:11-14.

  1. And may the lord's Peace rest with you too brother/sister and I hope this year is good for you and your family, may the lord watch over you and guide you and help you in all your adversities.

I am myself a poor Christian, poor in that I seldom attend church and indeed seldom cross the threshold of our front door to go out into the world but I have faith the lord knows me and all my flaws and takes account of the blood of his son in my place.

I still call our lord Jesus but yes I do accept the correct name in Hebrew/Aramaic is probably Yeshua and Miriam for his mother the virgin Mary.

I have read that among one north American tribe there were story's like in many of what may have been Christian missionary's long before Columbus or even angels, one tribe for example called a man whom came to them and made people well as well as teaching them peaceful ways as Cheesus the morning star, now of course that is the modern phonetic spelling of what may have been heard long after the founding of the us so a sceptic would poke holes in that everywhere but I tend to believe it to be based on a factual person and maybe even an angel of the lord himself.

In todays world we are surrounded as Christian's are persecuted and Christian tradition is trampled such as here in the UK, not one Christian movie on Christmas day on the terrestrial television channels, oh how it has changed into a godless country ran by secular illuminati Luciferianism over the past thirty years.

In the US there are rumours of Fema death camp's and mass stockpiles of plastic coffins enough to hold millions of people and in the middle east the oldest Christian church the Aramaic speaking Assyriac orthodox church is being wiped out from the face of the earth by the demonic IS terrorists.

It is a dark time we live in but it is in the darkest time's that Christ's light shines the brightest.

I stumbled on your page as I was feeling down and looking up Yeshua Hamashiac, it was nice to read so thank you and I pray the lord bless you and your family with safety and protection from the evil one and his plans, god bless.

  2. Shalom, Thanks for your Comments. We are living in dark times. Deception abounds. I would, encourage you, to stay in the the presence, of fellow believers. We know, his return, is soon. Instead off, defeating Islam. He call's us to be light unto the nations, as Isaiah once said (Isaiah 49:6)

... "You will do more than restore the people of Israel to me. I will make you a light to the Gentiles, and you will bring my salvation to the ends of the earth."

Be encouraged, he has not forgotten, nor forsake you, your heavy burdens were put on his shoulders, and his rest upon you.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ~ matthew 11:28
